Focus Topic: The Future of Temperature Sensing (TS)

Home Focus Topic: The Future of Temperature Sensing (TS)

This Focus Topic convenes leading experts from national metrology institutes, academia, and industry to showcase breakthroughs in next–generation temperature measurement science & technology. Across five sessions (Tue–Thu), speakers will present transformative approaches to temperature sensing technologies driven by advances in integrated photonics, fiber optics, nanofabrication, optical frequency metrology, opto– and magnomechanics, and atomic/molecular platforms.

TS-TuA: The Future of Temperature Sensing I

  • Graham Machin FREng FRS, National Physical Laboratory, U.K., “Keynote Talk: The Transformation of Temperature Traceability”

TS-WeM: The Future of Temperature Sensing II

  • Sergey Dedyulin, National Research Council Canada, “A Lighter Footprint: The Evolution of Ring-Resonator Thermometer Design at NRC”
  • Jeremy Latsko, United States Air Force Metrology and Calibration, “Utilizing the SI Redefinition and “NIST on a Chip” to Ensure Readiness Across the United States Air Force, Army, and Navy”

TS-WeA: The Future of Temperature Sensing III

  • Stephan Krenek, Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Germany, “Enabling New Measurement Capabilities with Fiber-Optic Thermometry”

Flagship Event: Industry Panel Discussion – “Scaling Up Temperature Innovation: Challenges, Opportunities, and Global Adoption”

Panelists: Leaders from Isotech, WIKA, Fluke, Chi3 Optics, and the U.S. Air Force)

This high-impact panel brings together industrial and defense metrology leaders to examine how emerging temperature-sensing technologies transition from laboratory innovation to global industrial deployment. Panelists will discuss commercialization challenges, key roadblocks, and practical strategies to accelerate worldwide adoption of advanced temperature–metrology solutions.

TS-ThM: The Future of Temperature Sensing IV

  • John Davis (University of Alberta, Canada) – “Magnomechanical Noise Thermometry”
  • Olga Kozlova (The Laboratoire Commun de Métrologie (LNE-Cnam), France)–“Towards Practical Integrated Primary Thermometry with Optomechanical and Photonic Techniques”

TS-ThM: The Future of Temperature Sensing IV
